Maman Est Chez le Coiffeur (Kanada, 2007)
Der letzte Film von Lea Pool, " Maman est chez le coiffeur " spiel im heissen Sommer Jahr 1966, wo Träume, Freiheit und neue Anfange mit Selbstfindung eine Wichtige Rolle spielte, gerade in der Französisch sprachige Provinz von Kanada wo die Katholische Kirche noch seine imponierend macht einsetzte. Mit Unabhängigkeit kommt nicht ohne Konflikten, besonders im Familien Leben. Drei Junge Geschwister, ein Mädchen und zwei Jungs müssen handeln mit die Scheidung ihre Eltern, der Vater entdeckt seine Sexuelle Ausrichtung und die Mutter braucht etwas Luft. Anstatt mit diese Identitätskrise zu Handeln, trennt sich das Ehepaar, sie verschwindet in Europa während er bleibt mit die Kinder aber weiss auch nicht besser. Was besonders an diesen Film liegt, ist die Ansicht der Kindern. Die Geschichte von denn Eltern ist eigentlich nicht Bedeutend nur das benehmen gegenüber die Kinder, undeutlich sein kann. Durch die Augen und Angstgefühle der Jugend, entdeckt man wieder die Härtebereiche Naivität der Natürlichkeit durch eine Fahrlässigkeit der Erwachsenen. Eltern brauchen ihre Ohrfeige auch damit sie wach bleiben damit sie aufpassen müssen.

A story about a husband who is confronted with a fatal illness. He decides to leave evertying behind (wife, kids, house, job) and set out to look for his father, who also left everything behind many years ago to go and live alone in a remote village in Ireland. Director Jean Becker uses a very Ingmar Bergman style of shooting near the second half of the city, with very few actors in each scene.

Like many American outsider adventurers, Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz set out to realize a utopian dream. Abandoning a successful medical practice, he sought self-fulfillment by taking up the nomadic life of a surfer. But unlike other American searchers like Thoreau or Kerouac, Paskowitz took his wife and nine children along for the ride, all 11 of them living in a 24-foot camper. Together, they lived a life that would be unfathomable to most, but enviable to anyone who ever relinquished their dreams to a straight job. REC (Spanischer Horrorfilm aus dem Jahre 2007)
Eine Journalistin macht eine Reportage über die Feuerwehr. Die Feuerwehrmänner warten auf irgendeinen Notanruf. Plötzlich, mitten in der Nacht kommt der Notanruf. Eine Frau ist angeblich in ihrer Wohnung gestürzt. Die Nachbarn haben schreckliche Schreie gehört. Die Feuerwehrmänner brechen in die Wohnung ein und finden eine alte Dame, Frau Izquierdo, in einer Blutlache (von Blut überströmt). Schnell stellt sich heraus, dass sie ein Zombie ist. Sie beisst auf einmal in den Hals eines Polizisten. Die Journalistin ist die ganze Zeit dabei, und mit Hilfe eines Kameramannes haben sie alles aufgenommen. Noch eine schlechte Nachricht erwartet die Einwohner dieses Gebäudes; die Polizei hat alle Ausgänge gesperrt. Es geht um ein grosses biologisches Infektionsrisiko. Dieser “Zombie” Virus ist über die Luft übertragbar und andere Personen werden schnell zu Zombies. Der Film ist aus der freien Hand gedreht. Es ist wieder ein gelungener Horrofilm des katalanischen Regisseurs Jaume Balaguero.

Ein Kellner führt ein monotones Leben. Er wird bald eine Mätresse finden. Was er nicht weisst, ist das sein Leben eigentlich ein Roman ist. Alles wird von einem Schriftsteller geschaffen. Im Film kann man das Leben des Schriftstellers und des Kellners sehen. Es geht um eine Mischung von beiden Geschichten. Manchmal kommt der Kellner zum Schiftstellers Zuhause, und beschwert sich darüber, das sein Leben schwer ist. Eine originale und unterhaltsame Geschichte.

Er bevorzugt die Freiheit, und in der Natur zu wohnen. Seine Entschlossenheit hat leider katastrophale Konsequenzen. Ein sehr gelungener Film von Sean Penn.

Eine Familie kauft ein grosses Haus, das früher als Weishaus diente. Natürlich kommen die Geiste heraus. Das Kind der Eltern geht verloren, und die Suche gibt zum Schluss kein Ergebnis. Die Mutter aber besteht darauf, alleine ihr Kind zu suchen. Dafür muss sich mit den Geisten kämpfen.

Die Einwohner des Dorfes, in dem Lars lebt, unterstützen ihn. Es geht eigentlich um einen psychologischen Vorgang. Als Bianca plötzlich krank wird, es erfolgt ein Drama, das interessant zu sehen ist.

Die Geschichte einer türkischen Familie, deren Sohn in Deutschland als Professor von Germanistik arbeitet. Der Vater tötet seine neue Frau und geht ins Knast. Die Tochter dieser Frau wurde nach Deutschland geschickt, um in einer Rebellengruppe, die politische Hintergründe hat, zu arbeiten.

Eine Frau, die als Krankenschwester vom Beruf ist, versucht, sich das Leben zu nehmen, weil sie etwas Erschrokenes erlebt hat. Einer ihrer Patientin wurde von ihrem Mann brutal getötet. Zugleich handelt der Film von einem Jungen, der jeden Tag in die Kirche geht, weil seine Grossmutter schwer krank ist. Der Junge und die Krankenschwester werden sich zufällig treffen, und eine freundliche Beziehung entsteht.

Director Wong Kar Wai (In the Mood for Love, 2046) brings a story about love and loneliness. Borrowing several themes from his previous films, the movie tells the story of a woman, who after having broken up with his boyfriend, decides to start all over again. Along the way she meets interesting and lonely people, and at the end she finds a person who had always been waiting for her. This is Kar Wai's first venture into the USA, working with English-speaking actors. The result is an entertaining and touching film, and by the way the soundtrack is amazing.

Jessica Alba and Canadian actor Hayden Christensen star in this thriller, where Jessica plays the role of an evil young wife who plots against her husband to get all his money. In need of an urgent heart transplant, Jessica sets the scene to have an unsuccessful operation, whereby she will inherit after her husband's death. Little does she nor the doctors know that the husband (Christensen) has not been completely anesthesized, he can hear and feel everything! Apparently these are rare cases in medicine, but it has actually happened in real life. Of couse he takes care of business once the operation is over.

The Living and the Dead (UK, 2007)☆☆☆☆☆
Independent director Simon Rumley brings to the screen the story of a small noble family with financial difficulties. The Longleigh House where they reside must be sold since they are out of money. With a young schizophrenic son and a bedridden mother, his father decides to leave them for a couple of days. This is where the descent into hell begins. The son starts to skip on his daily medication and in an attempt to take care of his mother, starts doing everything wrong. The nurse who was supposed to show up is not allowed inside the mansion, since the son locks every possible entrance. When police and ambulance finally show up, the destructive impulses of the son have done their work. Following the style of Requiem for a Dream, the audience is subjected to the horrific schizophrenic visions of the son, and the tragic ending is disturbing enough to keep you awake for awhile. An excellent shocker from the UK.

The true story of Jean-Dominique Beauby, former Elle editor in Paris, who suffers from a stroke which leaves him completely paralyzed, except for his left eye. He is however able to write a book about his experience from which the movie is based. A really sad movie but superbly executed.

Interview (The Netherlands, 2003) ☆☆☆
Dutch Director Theo Van Gogh (who was murdered in 2004) was very controversial throughout his career. With the Interview, we find ourselves in Katja Schuurman's appartment, a real-life famous Dutch TV star who is being interviewed by a political journalist. They both begin an intimate conversation that ends up in confessions, mixed with drugs and alcohol of course. The most interesting part is perhaps the ending, where Katja has a unique chance to get back at all the journalists who have written lies about her.

Gone With the Woman (Tatt av Kvinnen, Norway, 2007)
The story of a man, named He, he does not even have a name in the story. His daily life is interrupted by the acquaintance of a woman. She enters his life and transforms it completely, for the good. This movie represented Norway in the last Academy Awards ceremony in the Best Foreign Film category. More info from the Norwegian Film Institute
