I'm So Excited

Los Amantes Pasajeros, Spain, 2013, dir. Pedro Almodovar, *
A romantic and sexually charged story set in an airplane. It all looks like a dream that Almodovar had, but the result is exactly that; a dream without enough structure. The passangers end up related somehow by their family history. The whole story is implausible, but that is the last of the problems. This would have been much better if it had stayed as a dream.

World War Z

UK, USA, 2013, dir. Marc Forster ***
The zombies in this movie are vicious, they jump at you and do whatever they can to get a hold of you. They run by the thousdands, they are as fast as any athlete runner. The movie is action-packed from beginning to end. A nice take on the end of the world story.

The Bling Ring

USA, 2013, dir. Sofia Coppola, ****

A group of teenagers living in L.A. get into the habit of breaking into famous people's houses and stealing their luxury clothes and jewellery. The good times roll until they get caught by the police. An interesting take on the young generation's need for public attention that goes beyond materialistic needs.

Insidious: Chapter Two

USA, 2013, dir. James Wan ***
The second part of James Wan's Insidious takes us deeper into the background of the first part. There are flashbacks and scenes that happen both in the past and the future. You'll need to pay attention to understand it. It is a very creepy and well thought-out story.

You're Next

USA, 2011, dir. Adam Wingard, *****
No one but Adam Wingaard to give us the same plot that we have seen in many horror movies, but to also give us a lot of original twists. A family dinner turns deadly when they are attacked by a masked killer. Who would have thought that the perpetrator comes from inside the family. I won't say more, it's up to you to jump in and enjoy the ride.

Private Romeo

USA, 2011, dir. Alan Brown, ***

The story of Hamlet, told in a military school with only young male recruits. Yes, Hamlet is played by a guy. The dialogues are Shakespeare English, so you need to pay attention all throughout. Visuals are simple but striking.
